Up To 75% of Confectionery is Bought on Impulse
Supermarket chains have recently made inroads into confectionery sales largely as a result of multi-pack sales of countline brands. However, with up to 75% of confectionery bought on impulse, independents and convenience stores will achieve a significant proportion of sales. Chocolate bars are by far the most popular purchase, although chewing gum has shown an increase in consumption in recent years (as its dental benefits have become more apparent) and growth in the sugar confectionery sector is likely to be spectacular over the next few years.
