McCowan's Confectionery
Established in 1922, McCowan’s are a Scottish-based confectionery manufacturer. As well as producing a range of traditional products including Highland Toffee, the business is a leading producer of children’s chew bar products.

The brief
Our initial brief was to rejuvenate the packaging for a number of brands within the portfolio, but during the early stages of the project, we identified a more critucal need. True to Pareto’s theory, 80 percent of the company’s turnover was being generated by 20 percent of its product range – specifically from the children’s confectionery products.

Our solution
Bryt recommended the creation of a new and relevant brand identity for the children’s range product portfolio to more readily enagage this very discerning audience. In parallel with the creation of the kids brand, the original brand identity was modified to aid clarity and to ensure consistency of application.

In addition, new playful characters were created for introduction across the children's product portfolio - the first stage of an initiative designed to increase brand awareness through 'stickies' marketing.

The results
The two new identies were rolled-out across the entire product portfolio resulting in both increased listings and significant increases in sales. And as part of this activity, Bryt re-designed the iconic 'Wham Bar' - massively increasing its on-shelf imact - the effectiveness of which was demonstrated by an equally massive increase in sales.
